How To Arrange A Great Evening Wedding Timeline

After the formalities of your wedding ceremony, the next thing is your reception. This usually takes place in the evening and is where most of the fun but still important parts of your wedding happen. We’re great when it comes to planning your wedding and reception here at Dazzle (Events) by Andrea, so here is a general idea of what the timeline of an average wedding evening goes like. Remember that all weddings are unique and that as your planners, we will be working closely with you and your venue to plan your evening so no time is set in stone. For this post, however, we picture your guests arriving around 7 pm for your wedding reception.

  • 5:30 Pm To 6:00 Pm

The DJ or Wedding band you’ve hired should arrive by this time and start to set up. If you want them to arrive earlier than this, depending on the band, you might sometimes have to pay a little extra fee. They’re on the whole usually very quiet while setting up and only need about 10 minutes to soundcheck at the end.

  • 7:30 Pm

This is when your guests arrive and you start the party in full. Your wedding band or DJ can ease people into the flow and get you started. If by this point, however, you discover that you are behind schedule, our advice is that you just go with the flow. Panicking does nothing in the long run.

  • 8:10 Pm

This is when we advise that you cut the cake. It is good to cut it early in the evening and get that out of the way. The first dance can then follow.

  • 8:30- 9:30 Pm

This is when your first dance should take place. You can choose to have an elaborate routine, or just have a simple dance. Then you can have the Father-Daughter dance, the Mother-Son dance and all other special dances. This is a good time for the band of DJ to show their skills.

  • 9:30 Pm

This is the time for your diner. The DJ or band will play soft music at this point. This is because conversations will be going on simultaneously and this is when most guests get to catch up.

  • 10:15 – Midnight

This is when the partying and dancing happens in full. Again, the band or DJ uses this part to show off their great beats and keep everyone in high spirits. You can also serve late-night snacks if you had those planned.

  • Midnight

This is when the party finally draws to a close and you can all retire. If you want it to continue, you can make enquires from your venue and the entertainment crew too. Just make sure to do this long before that day.
