No Need for Drama When Creating the Guest List
Despite what some people may believe, creating the perfect wedding guest list is much harder a task than it may seem. From the fact that you will have to coordinate the list with your budget to the fact that you will have to do some serious convincing with everyone around you, everything about creating the wedding guest list seems to be a real torment (most of the times, at least).
There’s no need for drama when planning the guest list, though – you can always take your route. Here’s how to avoid complaints when you don’t want to invite every single member of your extended family:

It’s very important that you are honest with everyone, even with those who might have been invited otherwise. Regardless of what your reasons may be (they are divorced and you don’t want them to fight at your wedding, you want a small wedding, your budget doesn’t allow for this many guests), you need to put it as it is.
At the same time, make sure you don’t offend anyone. It’s one thing to be sincere and a completely different one to be impolite or downright rude. Remember, some people might be genuinely saddened by the fact that they didn’t make it to the guest list.
Last, but surely not least, don’t make compromises – no matter how much your mom and dad insist on inviting at least a couple of distant cousins. The moment you make a concession for someone, you open the doors for even more compromises.
