Are Chocolate Wedding Cakes a Good Idea?

Your wedding cake should be perfectly aligned with the overall design of the Big Day. More than that though, it should be just as unique as your sweet love story itself – so you should be free to choose whatever type of cake (or dessert) suits you the most.

Are chocolate wedding cakes a good idea, though? Here are some tips to help you decide:

  • Yes, you can definitely have a chocolate wedding cake (and not keep the dark deliciousness for the rehearsal dinner or for the Groom’s Cake only). These days, you are more than free to opt for a cake that really represents you – and if chocolate is what you love most, there’s no reason in the world you shouldn’t be able to choose it.

  • For example, you could create a classic tiered cake covered in chocolate. These cakes look best with berries as décor (and maybe even in the filling or in the cake itself) – but you can also opt for a tiered cake in different “shades of chocolate”, from the darkest to the whitest.

  • Furthermore, naked wedding cakes are very popular these days too – and you can have yours built around chocolate cake, filling and/or décor as well. Add a few fresh fruit, flowers, or greenery to make your naked cake feel more natural and more original – it will steal everyone’s hearts!

  • Last, but not least, you can also opt for a very playful cake – such as one inspired by your favorite chocolate cookies. This kind of cake is bound to leave all of your guests wanting for more!
